Back to the track — Financial Accountant
Account substantiation: make the balance defensible
Account substantiation makes a versioned trial-balance amount traceable down to complete population, roll-forward, assertions, evidence and open items, then back up to the same figure. Subledger agreement proves only tie; it does not rule out duplicate invoices, incomplete population or wrong classification. Evidence varies by account and assertion, and reconciliation differences break into identified, directed, aged, owned actionable items. Materiality follows known cause, and age changes whether an item is timing or escalation. A zero account is not exempt; its gross movement and counter-accounts are opened. Approval follows retotal, tie and testing on latest source and version, with corrections posted and affected tests rerun.
